Braunstone Chess Club meets every Wednesday at 7.30pm at the Braunstone Civic Centre. The Club has been in existence since April 21st 1942 when it was founded and is one of the longest established clubs in Leicestershire. The Club currently runs teams in the Leicestershire League for season 2024-25, with teams in divisions 2 and 4. Our players range in strength from strong County players to "beginners" (you can see the club members current gradings by clicking the link on the left) and everyone is welcome. The Civic Centre is a clean modern building with its own licensed bar which we like to make use of at the end of the evening see here. Also, the bar opens at 7pm and serves coffee, tea, hot melas and sandwitches and cakes etc, so ideal if you want a quick bite to eat before the match starts. The Civic Centre is also on the Arriva bus route from Leicester City Centre. To reach the Braunstone Civic Centre:- 1. From Leicester (Haymarket) by bus Arriva 104 to Ravenhurst Road. 2. From Leicester by car, leave the City by the A46 (Leicester/Coventry Road). At the commencement of the dual carriageway, take the right hand lane and descend to the traffic lights (Premier Inn on Left). Cross over into the right hand service road. Kingsway is the 8th turning on the right. 3. From M1 at Fosse Park. At the M1 access roundabout, take the west service road. Kingsway is the 3rd turning on the left. You can find a MAP here.
