Match Report - Take 5
Latimer wanted to play five boards and then their original nomination for top board was held up on a return journey from Hereford, which led to some reshuffling of their team. Cyril lost fairly early on Board 2 and then Guy accepted a draw on Board 1 as he felt everybody else had reasonable positions and one of us might get a win. Guy was unfortunately over optimistic. Barry took a draw on Board 3 after only just over twenty moves against an opponent who seemed content on locking up the game. Paul got a draw on Board 5 and Steve got tied up and lost a queen for a rook on Board 4 and lost his match. A post match analysis took place in the Bridle Lane Tavern, where there was live jazz music and some really excellent beer. Those in possession of CAMRA membership cards also got a discount on the beer, those with ECF membership cards did not. Report by Steve Barlow. Click here for the November match reports.
